  5. a pessimistic view of mankind; of a heart attack; in Neuchatel,
  6. Switzerland. Durrenmatt's works were translated into some 50
  7. languages. His best-known play, The Visit (1955), told of a
  8. town that when offered a fortune to kill one of its residents,
  9. slowly yields to temptation.
